Viscose Rayon or Cotton-Silk: Which Kurta Set Fabric Fits You
We tested fourteen fabrics before choosing 140 GSM viscose rayon for most of our sets, and a cotton-silk blend for our most tailored line, The Executive Ivory. They're not interchangeable — here's how to pick between them.
140 GSM Viscose Rayon
Used in our Sage Green and Dusty Rose sets. It has a fluid, soft drape that moves with you rather than holding a stiff shape. It takes an ombré dye evenly, which is why our sage-to-mint and rose-to-blush dupattas are cut from it.
Best for: relaxed silhouettes and all-day wear where you want the fabric to move rather than structure your shape.
Cotton-Silk Blend
Used only in Warm Ivory — The Executive Ivory set. It has a crisper drape than viscose rayon, which is what gives that set its tailored, structured look and helps it hold a clean line through a seated workday.
Best for: tailored silhouettes and client-facing days where you want structure over drape.
What they have in common
- Both are cold hand wash, dry flat in shade, cool iron.
- Both are cut with French seams and hand-finished.
- Neither is treated with the stiff synthetic finish that makes some rayon blends feel plasticky — ours are chosen specifically to avoid that.
Which should you choose?
If you're drawn to a softer, more relaxed fit — Sage Green or Dusty Rose. If you want a tailored, structured line for the office — Warm Ivory.
FAQ
Is viscose rayon durable?
Yes, with the right care — cold hand wash and shade drying preserve both the fabric and the dye. Avoid wringing, which can distort the drape.
Does cotton-silk need dry cleaning?
No — cold hand wash, dry flat in shade, cool iron, and avoiding soaking is all it needs. The Chanderi dupatta is the one piece we recommend dry-clean only, to protect its zari border.
Will the ombré dye fade?
Hand washing in cold water and drying in shade, not direct sun, is the single biggest factor in how long the ombré holds its depth.
